NOTICE - Event Canceled for 2018

Following the bush fires on Mt Canobolas last week
there has been extensive damage to the fire trails and tracks
we use for our course.

For safety reasons we must abandon the running of the
Great Volcanic for this year.

Full refunds will be made on all entries to date.
Please allow a little time for this to be organised.

We hope repair work can be completed in time
to allow Great Volcanic to resume next year.

We regret any inconvenience and disappointment to everyone
who wished to be part of our event this year.

The Greater Volcanic Challenges are 'fun run' style events where you can run or walk up fire trails and bush tracks with some wonderful views to Mt Towac , Young Man Canobolas  and Mt Canobolas. The Greater Challenge starts at Pinnacle Picnic grounds and finishes at the top of  Mt Canobolas (Overall climb is 520m distance 11km) and a bus takes you back to the start area. The newly introduced Mini Challenge starts and finishes at the Picnic grounds (distance 4.5km).

This is our 13th year and the entry numbers are still climbing.  Last year we had nearly 500 starters, a huge increase in numbers, across all ages ranging from 8 to 80!  The top runners can do it
in under an hour but most contestants finish the long race in the 1.5 hrs to 2.5 hrs range. The new shorter race is 4.5kms and the winner will set the race record

Greater Volcanic is rightly called a 'Challenge' and requires a serious effort to complete.  Getting
to the Finish line rewards contestants with a real sense of satisfaction.

If you go to our web albums you can see hundreds of pics to get an idea of what we do.
