NSW & AUSTRALIAN
MOUNTAIN RUNNING CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Great Volcanic Mountain Challenge has hosted the NSW Mountain Running Championships for several years now.

This year the Organising Committee is excited to announce that the Great Volcanic is also the Australian National Mountain Running Championships for 2023!

So there will be both NSW and Australian National Championship medals up for grabs in both Junior and Open age groups.
We look forward to welcoming some elite runners from interstate to our event.  Over the years, we have seen many Olympic & Commonwealth Games representative athletes come and challenge themselves to the high altitude and tough uphill course in Orange as part of their endurance training.

With limited venues for mountain running and trail running events, the Great Volcanic Mountain Challenge has been a long established and well conducted event thanks to the Rotary Club of Orange and Goldseekers Orienteering Club.

The GVMC is an opportunity for registered athletes with Athletics NSW or other State bodies to be selected as a member of the Australian Team to compete at the World Mountain Running Championships.
